Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health - PACE EH

PACE EH is a process designed to improve decision making by taking a collaborative community-based approach to solving environmental health concerns of the community.

  • The PACE EH Sarasota Coastal Communities team consists of a diverse mixture of government employees, citizens, non-profit organizations, environmental groups and educational institutions.
  • The PACE EH process is directed by the community.
  • The community identifies environmental health issues to be addressed by the PACE EH team.

The goal of the process is to allow the voice of the community to be heard and response to be given in the form of action plans. Together, we can protect and preserve the environmental health of our coastal communities.

The PACE EH team has defined all of Sarasota County as a Coastal Community because all of Sarasota County is in one of five watersheds.

  • Our stream, rivers, lakes, bay and gulf are impacted by one another.
  • Our coastal community is not limited to our islands; rather it encompasses the entire county.

The map shows how the county is divided into five watersheds, each with unique traits and characteristics.

Do you know which
watershed you reside in?

1. Sarasota Bay Watershed
2. Little Sarasota Bay Watershed
3. Dona/Roberts Bay Watershed
4. Myakka River Watershed
5. Lemon Bay Watershed
