The Sarasota County Health Department is dedicated to protecting the health of residents and visitors of Sarasota County through

  • identification,
  • education and regulation of environmental issues;
  • promoting a safe and healthy coastal environment through management,
  • monitoring, outreach and increased public awareness of environmental health issues impacting our coastal communities.

Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health

The Sarasota County Health Department has been an active participant in issues regarding our marine ecosystem, health related impacts of sewage spills, runoff, red tide and beach monitoring. In an effort to improve the assessment of these and other environmental health related issues in our coastal communities, we are implementing a process known as PACE EH or the Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health.

Weekly Beach Update: There are no advisories posted for any Sarasota County beaches at this time.
The Sarasota County Health Department monitors water quality weekly at 16 sites along Sarasota’s 34 miles of beaches. The program effectively provides our residents and visitors accurate, up-to-date information on the water quality at our beaches. (read more..)
